A Woman’s Glance

What lies behind the eyes of a woman’s glance?
Is it the confidence she has found in becoming comfortable in her own skin?
Is it the intrinsic way she flirts, welcoming the interest of another?
Is it the anticipation of hopes and dreams?
Or is it the satisfaction of a job well done, giving herself an internal pat on the back.

Is it the determination she has found at the corner of frustration and somebody’s-got-to-do-it Street?
Or is it the vulnerability in her soul that surfaces when the woman in her needs the man in her life?
Just one, quick glance can reveal much that lies in the heart, mind and soul of a woman.
Only those who seek to understand the woman will find the true essence of her glance.
by Deanetta Goodloe

As a photographer, the last statement of Deanetta’s poem really hit home because over the years I have grown to understand the value of taking time to get to know my clients. It not only makes the session much more relaxing but it also provides me with the necessary information to capture the true essence of them. I really believe that the most treasured images are the ones that embodies the people, relationships, moments, and things that are important to us and the only way to capture that in a 60 minute session is to get to know my clients before the shoot.

I would like to extend a BIG congratulations to Abina and Ryan Gibson on the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Rylie Arielle Gibson. Rylie was born today at 1:52pm weighing 7lbs 11oz. Mom and baby are doing just fine… thank God! Here are some images from Abina’s maternity shoot a few weeks ago in their beautiful New Jersey home. Their dog Diesel was the star of the shoot but he’s going to have to share the spotlight now that baby Rylie is here!:-)

Destination Wedding Photography: Carlon + Dacia = Married, St. Thomas!!!

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you newlyweds, Carlon and Dacia. Vows were exchanged and love confessed on the morning of October 22nd at the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa in the St. Thomas US Virgin Islands . The ceremony took place at 10:30am on a terrace overlooking the British Virgin Islands. It was really amazing to witness and capture. They also had a very unique morning-theme reception. A breakfast buffet with a chef cooking up omlettes to order and each of the guest tables were labeled with signs such as “Morning Love”, “Morning Bliss”, “Morning Joy”, etc. I loved the concept!

Neville awsome as usual, I really admire your professionalism and passion for what you do. I love that you pay attention to detail and make sure that the end product is always to die for. Carlon and I really loved our one on one session with you, we were so happy to finally be married and our love for each other is clearly captured in all the pictures. We can’t wait for the 5 year renewal to book you again. God has really given you a talent that shines brightly in your work.

Huntsville Wedding Photography: Image of the Week

Consider The Other Side

The bride and the groom were sharing a beautiful moment after she tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around to see her for the first time on their wedding day. I originally told the groom to stand by the window to take advantage of the beautiful natural light but I got very excited when I saw their reflection in the window. It was not what I originally was going for… nor was it as sharp as the original shot but to me it was better.

Photographers, don’t you hate when you set up a shot but your assistant who is on the side gets a better angle and a cooler shot? Well it’s not their fault is yours; you are not stretching your mind enough. I recently heard one of the greatest wedding photographers in my opinion, Jerry Ghionis, say,” you have to be your own assistant photographer.” In other words, once you have taken the shot you had in mind, walk around the subject and see what else you find. I know that I am glad I looked around and found this reflection shot!

Message Behind the Photo:
Whether you are right or wrong… it sometimes helps to see things from the other side!
